5 Ways to Maximize Online Advertising for Your Contracting Business

It’s 2016 and the reality of being in an Internet age is undeniable. Phone book and newspaper ads are a thing of the past, so if you want your advertising dollars to stretch as far as they can, then the Internet is your business’ best friend.  The two of you just need to get to know each other.

At Contractors Reporting Services, we specialize in helping you get your general contractors license in Florida, but we are here for you far beyond that point too. Whether you need assistance in licensing and renewals, have questions about establishing your corporation or need some direction with other business services , we work hard to provide you with the tools you need to succeed. A key component of operating a successful business is the utilization of business tools that will set you apart from your competition. Here are 5 ways to maximize online advertising to generate more new business:

  1. Establish Credibility

If a client walks into your office, your Contractor’s License should always be in plain view–probably framed right behind your desk.  Likewise, your website should act as your virtual office. Showcase your licensure, bonding and any other certifications with prime placement — one of the first things a visitor sees when your website finishes loading. Then, highlight a safety bond definition right below that, so that customers are educated on the significance of your licensure to them.  Showing proof of your insurance and any additional certifications from associations, manufacturers or government agencies, will convey that you are known through many different aspects of the industry and relationships are important to you. Reputation is everything and being forthcoming with your achievements establishes needed credibility.

  1. Optimize your site for mobile usage

Are you reading this on your smartphone?  In 2015, more than 50% of web searches were made on mobile devices.  If your website isn’t mobile-responsive, you isolate yourself from more than half of your potential customers!  Fortunately, it’s an incredibly easy problem to fix, if you haven’t already.  WordPress and other similar content management systems offer mobile-responsive templates or plug-ins for free, so you can do it yourself, and you can do it this weekend!

  1. Optimize for local SEO

SEO, or search engine optimization , determines how high up your website is shown in the search results for certain key-words.  The best way to optimize your website for local contracting searches is by creating a Google My Business Profile.  This, literally, puts your business on the map, allowing you to show up on searches and on Google+.  Plus, it’s easy to do.  Give your business a short introduction, listing the five cities closest to your location, and your top seven products and services.  Take smartphone pictures at your location and add the images to your profile. As long as your location services are on, Google will detect you and show pictures of your business.  Additionally, make sure your name, address and phone number are on every page of your site, remembering to verify the consistency of that information on every business profile you have.  Keep everything uniform and your site won’t stop climbing to the top of local contracting searches.

  1. Use social media

You can pay for local advertising on social media if you want to maximize the people who see you. Facebook even cross-references the search history of its users so that it caters its advertisements towards profiles who have already shown interest in similar services or products, so many small business owners count it as a wise investment. But regardless, make sure you develop social media profiles for your contracting business. LinkedIn increases the credibility of your business, and legitimizes you amongst the competitors you share in the industry; it’s great for networking too. Clients can ask questions on Twitter. Any potential customer should be able to find your business on Facebook, and if they see that one of their friends has hired you, it will probably help you win their business as well. You can showcase your work with before-and-after photos of your projects on Instagram, and using hashtags will spread your profile to innumerable users that are already interested in your subject matter. Content from your profiles will show your business multiple times in search engine results, and show your competitors even less.

  1. Get help

You don’t have to be the next Mark Zuckerberg to bring your site to the top of Google, and you don’t have to hire him either.  Outsourcing your advertizing to a digital media agency or freelancer is as effective as it is affordable, and the benefits are fantastic.  Enlisting professional help can make your website more user-friendly, add vivid graphics that make the site aesthetically pleasing to visitors (which enhances their experience and the likelihood that they take you seriously) and even spearhead SEO initiatives to increase the volume of visitors to your website as your business appears in more local search results.
